Elizabeth Mohr from the Pioneer Press wrote this article discussing my run for Cottage Grove City Council.

Scores of candidates have filed to run in the Nov. 2 municipal elections in Washington County. The filing period ended at 5 p.m. Tuesday….

...In Cottage Grove, four candidates are vying for two city council seats: Tanweer Janjua, 46, an unemployed architect; Derrick Lehrke, 31, co-owner of the financial consulting company RightWay LLC; Pat Rice, 50, an incumbent and a circulation district supervisor for the Pioneer Press; and Dave Thiede, 54, a solution developer for IT Solution Development.

Although I havn't taken the time to read all of the comments, or to follow one comment all the way through; therd is one thing that holds strong in my mind, and that is! There is a necessity for a new city hall. When we moved to Cottage Grove 23 years ago, the city boasted an avarage of 2500 residents. We are now over 3500. Having had to visit the youth counceling services, and the police station, and the city hall. all for different reasons, I was surprised to learn that they all occupied the same building which from outward appearances didn't quite make the mark. City planners have for some time now discussed the need for additional space for all of those individual services, why then is there so much oppoesition? I hold out hope that the thoughts will go to what's good for the city and not what is good for politics

I would like this site to be very active with input from everyone in Cottage Grove.  What I believe in doesn't matter as much as what the people of Cottage Grove believe and this should be a site where you can tell me what you think and we can have a conversation about it. Please tell me how you feel!
